NEP is the newest reform in the existing Indian Education policy. Before 2020, the education policy was declared by the cabinet in July 1986.
MONDAY, PM Narendra Modi in his speech on NEP 2020 stated that “NEP 2020 would remove the pressure on students for taking specific streams.” Adding to it, he said that earlier students used to pick a single stream and realise later that it is beyond their aptitude. On 6th September, PM Narendra Modi shared a tweet at 9:37 p.m. to inform that he will be joining the inaugural session of the Government’s Conference on National Education Policy 2020 with President Ram Nath Kovind, governors and Vice-Chancellors of all universities of India.
In his speech, he also stated that in the 21st century, the government would make India a hub of the knowledge economy.
He said, “It is our collective responsibility that the policy is implemented in letter and spirit”. With this statement, he also stated that if all the students and teachers associated with this new policy, it will become more relevant.
He also mentioned that now international institutions can be established across the nation to provide a world-class education to the students.
Along with the education policy, he also talked about tourism. He said, “ Education should be imparted through tourism” where he asked the state governments to check out the locations where the students can visit and gain knowledge.
The Prime Minister also showed disappointment related to the previous education policy, where he stated that critical and innovative thinking is needed with interest and ability.
New Education Policy 2020 will bring significant changes, and it will help the youth to achieve success and open the room for employment.
